florabunda borders from Making A Lather

I had a sew day Saturday for working on my florabunda quilt. I wasn't sure the last time I worked on it, that I would like it. But, I decided to press forward and make a simplified version of Bonnie Hunter's  borders on her quilt. I calculated that I needed 5 1/2 inch, 2 1/2 inch, 3 inch strips, to strip piece what I wanted to do. I had a leftover collection of florals to use.

5 1/2 floral plus 2 1/2 yellow strips

I sewed the second unit with a 2 1/2 ...

to do: assemble florabunda from Making A Lather

Our Friday small group met at the library, and I took the opportunity to use the floor for a design floor.

I had finished the blocks last year for this Bonnie Hunter free pattern called Florabunda. The color for February  for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy is yellow. And this is one of the UFOs that I am working on for yellow.  I was very disappointed at it looking at it on the design floor. It looked ugly.  So, I spent time thinking how I could not finish the quilt, and, not let all the work go to ...

to do: boxy stars from Making A Lather

My small quilt group met Tuesday. I was eager to unbox an older ufo that I plan to finish for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. My list said I had the blocks done. And so it was. I knew I would have a little floor space to lay it out to decide how I wanted to finish it. I took a piece of fabric with me in case I wanted to use it for sashing. I am not a big fan of sashing. Sometimes, there is a great secondary pattern that disappears with sashing. And it takes forever ...

retreat and one monthly goal from Making A Lather

Our guild had another open sew Saturday. I took what I had done on bonnie Hunter quilt zuckerwatte from her book string fling, and, decided to see how far I could get. With just 20 minutes to spare, I had the center top finished. It was a great boost. I had started at the beginning of January with only string blocks made. I cut a gazillion  HSTS - ( half square triangles ) ... sewn a bunch together, and made  rows. and blocks.

Now that we have a new month, it is time to refocus on another set of goals. My one monthly goal ...

zuckerwatte in progress from Making A Lather

I have sew enjoyed the pink inspiration with the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Looking at the design walls all filled with pink, makes me happy. I don't have a design wall or even a design floor, but, I sure have pink scraps. I am doing rsc a little different this year, by concentrating on ufos by color. I miss sewing the blocks, and watching them grow, though.

It was time to dig around in my pink 2 1/2 inch drawer for the rainbow scrap challenge. The drawer was overflowing. I knew that I would need 2 ...

baby quilt finish from Making A Lather

I have emptied a project box with this finish. I finished flannel #2 his week. It feels so good to move another UFo to done. I finished flannel #1 last week as part rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

46x58- 7 yards of fabric

I found an old blog post about the pattern including a share it  of my copy of the pattern. It's a great pattern to use for a baby quilt and/or a donation quilt.

My ufo # 2 and #3 for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy was 2 pink flannel baby quilts. I didn't know, when I opened the box, if I had just collected the fabric, or, had it cut for what I needed. I saw labels on the fabric, so I was excited to learn it was already cut and ready to sew.

there are 2 quilts cut out in the box

I had all the letters I needed for the pattern -quilt #1

I arranged them on tray with all the letters showing
